From Lagos to London: How Check My Entry Supports International Events

We started Check My Entry solving a very specific, very local problem: guest check-in at events in Nigeria, where poor venue connectivity and gatecrashing were constant headaches for planners. What we built to solve that turned out to travel well because the underlying problems (bad WiFi, uninvited guests, slow manual check-in) aren’t unique to any one country.

Why the same system works everywhere

QR code invitations delivered by WhatsApp or email don’t care what country a guest is in the experience is identical whether you’re checking in guests in Lagos, London, or Toronto. Offline-capable scanning doesn’t care whether a venue’s poor connectivity is in rural Nigeria or a stone-walled countryside hotel in the UK. The problems we originally built for turned out to be universal event-planning problems, not Nigeria-specific ones.

What’s different for international clients

The core product doesn’t change what changes is the quote. International events are priced in USD, GBP, or CAD depending on guest volume and staffing needs, rather than forcing every client through a single currency and pricing structure that only made sense for one market.

Staffing, wherever the event is

For local Nigerian events, we can provide trained staff directly. For international events, we typically train your existing team to use the scanning app a process that takes minutes, not hours, since the actual check-in action is just “scan the code.” Either way, the event doesn’t depend on flying a team internationally to run a door.

Why we mention where we started

We think it’s worth being upfront that Check My Entry launched in Nigeria, rather than presenting as a UK or US company with a generic global pitch. The reason the offline-first, gatecrasher-proof approach exists at all is because it had to work in conditions many “modern” event-tech companies never design for. That’s a feature, not a caveat a system built to handle unreliable venue WiFi and determined gatecrashers handles the easier version of that problem everywhere else too.

Working across time zones

International coordination means your event planning calls happen across a real time difference, not just a Slack notification. We work around that as a matter of course it’s a normal part of supporting clients outside Nigeria, not a special accommodation.

Whether your event is in Lagos, London, Toronto, or somewhere else entirely, get in touch and we’ll quote it for your market.
